They forced him to carry the cross” (15.21). WebbThe Bible tells us that Simon was just a passerby who happened to be coming in from the country. Well, we know precious little about Simon of Cyrene. But what little we do know is quite significant. We know, for example, that Cyrene was an African city on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the region what we call today Libya.
